KineDok – launched in Romania on July 1st – by “Men with Balls”
On July 1st, KineDok is launching in Romania with the screening of „Men with Balls” at Cinema Elvira Popesco in Bucharest. The one serving the balls will be the protagonist of the film, the mayor of the Hungarian village of Besence, who will attend the event. Mr. Ignácz József will then leave for Timișoara and Arad, where the next screenings of the film are scheduled for the 2 and the 3 of July.
Around 200 screenings of the 12 films in the KineDok package are scheduled in 14 towns across Romania, till December 2015. The national coordinator of the project is One World Romania (www.oneworld.ro).
„We believe that in Romania we have an audience who is eager to consume something different in terms of films. But those kind of films don’t get to these people, and there are no cinema venues where this could happen. We also believe that we have stories to share with our neighbors in Central and Eastern Europe. KineDok is building all these missing links, so we’re very impatient to make it happen.”, says Alexandru Solomon, the director of the One World Romania Association.
The 12 films, including the Romanian productions „Bucharest, where are you?” and „here...I mean there”, will be screened in an abandoned factory in Arad (Teba), in the Patria cinematheque in Brasov, or at the Teaz tea-house in Piatra Neamt.
