A tiger cub, a wolf and a python are dissected in front of schoolchildren during a public dissection at the Natural History Museum in Copenhagen. What does the snake's body look like from the inside? And why is one leg a different colour to the others? And how do the children view the process?
About film
Trailer
Abdi Hedayat, the protagonist of the documentary, regularly organizes public autopsies of animals. Children who come into direct contact with the dead animals watch the bizarre ritual of skinning and gutting. This evokes strong emotions of disgust, nervousness, but also excitement and curiosity. In front of them, the flesh and bones of tigers, wolves and pythons are turned into museum exhibits and, above all, they discover how the animal body works. The film's title refers to the killing of a healthy baby giraffe, Mario, at Copenhagen Zoo. Why did the zoo management have him put down? Why is such a decision sometimes useful? This meditative, optimistic and humanistic film not only offers answers to these questions, but also reveals the relationship humans have with nature and how they pass it on to the next generation.
