Twenty years after the execution of dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, Romania appears as a modern capitalist democracy filled with billboards, luxury stores, and cars. Beneath this façade lie poverty, decaying infrastructure, and deep inequality, with much of the wealth concentrated in the hands of a small elite. Filmmaker Alexandru Solomon interviews multimillionaires tied to both the former regime and current power structures. They openly acknowledge corruption and suggest success often requires bending the rules. The film asks who will ultimately pay the price. Even 16 years after film premiere, it remains surprisingly relevant.
