The film Better to Go Mad in the Wild follows the Klišík twins, eternal children living in the Šumava wilderness with their pets. Humor, daily routines, and the brothers’ contrasting souls create a magical portrait of life outside civilization.
About film
Trailer
Miro Remo’s film is loosely based on the book by Aleš Palán and Jan Šíbík about recluses in the Šumava region. The guides are twins František and Ondřej Klišík – eternal children living in a magical world with their pets. They share every day and every thought, yet conceal very different souls: Franta dreams of escape and flying, while Ondra remains rooted in the familiar. The film explores the limits of cohabitation, the longing for freedom, and connection with nature. It won the hearts of audiences and the jury at the Karlovy Vary Festival, where it received the top prize.
