The Visitors

Anthropologist Zdenka moved with her family to a small arctic town in Norway - Longyearbyen. Here, based on interviews with some of its inhabitants, she uncovers a mosaic of different stories and finds out what life is really like in this mysterious but also poetic place. However the film sensitively observes her private, personal story as well. A small number of inhabitants live in this town, many of which are foreigners. Although the town is at first glance attractive due to its location in seemingly virgin nature, which is, in fact, affected by climate change, outlanders face a number of problems here. Moreover the film partially deals with the broader ecological issue of human intervention in nature. Documentary about searching for symbiosis and serenity but also about moving, freedom of choice and acceptance.
