The Neo-Renaissance palace was built between 1861 and 1863 for Count Prokop Lažanský. Probably the most important personality associated with this building is Bedřich Smetana, who stayed here in the 1860s. In 1884 the café Velká Slávie was opened here. The palace underwent its first reconstruction in the 1930s. Today, it is home to the Slávie café and FAMU. In the premises where FAMU is located there is also a screening room with a capacity of 72 seats.
