Urzellauf Großschenk / Fuga Lolelor Cincu. Museum in Progress is a cultural platform managed by the village association of the same name, opened to the public in February 2024 in the space of Cincu’s first mayor hall (Brașov County). Built in 1520 and serving as the mayor hall until 1714, this historic building now hosts a dynamic cultural initiative. The museum serves as a pretext—a platform for dialogue centered around the revitalization of the medieval custom of Urzellauf Großschenk, a ritual for driving away winter and evil spirits. With a program featuring two major exhibitions per year and hosting various cultural gatherings, the museum documents local and regional culture by showcasing heritage and vernacular artifacts. These objects are placed in an international context through dialogue with contemporary art, having already featured works by artists such as Pascual+Vincent, Charles Fréger, Ivo Danchev, Ramin Mazur, DEM, Sillyconductor, Sorina Vazelina, and others. This hybrid space of art, history, and education is designed for audiences of all ages, offering an innovative model for activating local heritage through contemporary art and events, fostering debate on pressing socio-cultural themes.
