About film
The seven short documentaries in the 2026 Czech-German film tour follow people trying to find their place in an increasingly fast-paced and demanding world. Faced with pressure to succeed, social expectations and personal challenges, they search for their own path, a sense of belonging and the freedom to be themselves. The Czech films tell the stories of men who find comfort in bodybuilding, an air traffic controller searching for her own identity, and a young man navigating everyday life in war-torn Nikopol. The German films explore competition and ambition, the hopes and uncertainties of looking for work, the limits of obedience and conformity, and the ways in which the past continues to shape our lives. Together, the seven films create a multifaceted portrait of vulnerability and resilience, memory and desire – revealing what connects us even in uncertain times.
