The Northeast Winds
The removal of the statue of Joseph Stalin is a great shame for some residents of Gori and they are trying to have it returned.
The administration of the Georgian city of Gori removed a statue of its most famous native, Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, in 2010. Some residents, who consider Stalin almost a god, have still not come to terms with this and are fighting for its return to a public place. The Stalin Society political party, however, can only remember the days when it had several thousand members. Today there are only fifteen left and their strength continues to wane. Moreover, conflict is brewing between the leaders of the two Stalinist groups. The Northeast Winds shows the story of people who are not satisfied with the new direction of their country and many of them have no strength left to change it.
