What About Petey? (Martin Trabalík, 2025, Czechia, 86 mins)

The documentary What About Petey? was filmed over three years using an observational approach. Director Martin Trabalík, who personally worked with Péťa and his father Petr Jochec, creates an intimate portrait of a family facing the joys and challenges of life with a child with disabilities. The film highlights the strength of human bonds, perseverance, and love that unites the family.

The film will be available on kinedok.net from October 15 to 21, 2026. To watch it for free, request a voucher at films@kinedok.net during the availability period.

Due to licensing restrictions, the screening is available only in KineDok’s partner countries: Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Croatia. Subtitles are provided in the languages of all partner countries.

Discussion premiere: October 15 at 7 PM CEST

The film’s director, Martin Trabalík, joins moderator Irena Hůlová for a discussion, where we explore the broader context of the story, focusing on the social support system in the Czech Republic, the role of NGOs and the everyday realities faced by families caring for children with disabilities.

The discussion (in English) will premiere on Thursday, October 15, at 7 PM CEST on KineDok International’s Facebook page and the Institute of Documentary Film YouTube channel. It will remain available to watch online after the premiere.
