This series of short presentations focused on community empowerment through documentary film and brought together experts from across Europe to inspire and prepare participants to use documentary film as a tool for community empowerment. Polish film journalist Adam Kruk presented the basics of thinking about film, while Enikő Gyureskó from the Verzio Festival in Hungary discussed the process of curating and organizing film programmes, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusivity in film selection. Annelies Cuba-Fried, an Austrian programmer, presented the youth-oriented activities of the Wienxtra Cultural Centre, which aim to encourage young people to explore their creativity through film.
This was the first of two planned conferences based on the insights from a forthcoming publication on creating successful cultural events. This publication will be presented during the second conference of the East Doc Platform 2024 (22-28 March) and will involve managers, coordinators and other experts on the subject from all partner countries.
