THINK OUTSIDE THE TRADITIONAL CINEMA FORMAT

This part of the conference, in the PechaKucha format, was dedicated to the stories of alternative venue managers from all KineDok countries. The speakers were Miro Frakić from Dokukino Kic, Zuzana Hrušková from Galéria Ľudovíta Fulla, Veronika Hanáková from Kampus Hybernská, Szilágyi Levente from Kinodomino, Ada-Simona Biris from Muzeul de Arta Vizuala Galati and Ana Barjadze from Art House in Georgia. Matej Sotnik (guča films & Film Expanded) gave the opening speech and talked about film distribution and production.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES THROUGH DOCUMENTARY FILM

This series of short presentations focused on community empowerment through documentary film and brought together experts from across Europe to inspire and prepare participants to use documentary film as a tool for community empowerment. Polish film journalist Adam Kruk presented the basics of thinking about film, while Enikő Gyureskó from the Verzio Festival in Hungary discussed the process of curating and organizing film programmes, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusivity in film selection. Annelies Cuba-Fried, an Austrian programmer, presented the youth-oriented activities of the Wienxtra Cultural Centre, which aim to encourage young people to explore their creativity through film.

This was the first of two planned conferences based on the insights from a forthcoming publication on creating successful cultural events. This publication will be presented during the second conference of the East Doc Platform 2024 (22-28 March) and will involve managers, coordinators and other experts on the subject from all partner countries.
