Vyšehrad is one of Prague’s most important historical and cultural landmarks. This ancient site overlooking the Vltava River is closely connected with the origins of the Czech state, national legends, and many significant figures in Czech history. Its main landmarks include the Basilica of St Peter and St Paul and the Vyšehrad Cemetery with the Slavín tomb, the final resting place of many prominent figures of Czech culture. The grounds are open to the public and host a variety of interesting cultural and community events throughout the year. Combining history, architecture, culture, and a large park, Vyšehrad is also a popular place for walks, offering beautiful views over Prague.
