Following the stars to the other side of the world. A screening of Wishing on a Star at Vyšehrad

Neapolitan astrologer Luciana believes that the place where a person celebrates their birthday can shape the year ahead. Peter Kerekes’s documentary comedy follows her clients as they travel in search of love, hope, and a more promising future. We will screen Wishing on a Star on 10 September at the open-air cinema in the park in front of the Vyšehrad Purkrabství. Admission is free.

Can you change your destiny simply by celebrating your birthday in the right place? Neapolitan astrologer Luciana is convinced you can. She calculates exactly where her clients should travel to increase their chances of finding new love, making a major change in their lives, or gaining a deeper understanding of themselves.

Her work resembles an unusual combination of an astrological consultancy and a travel agency. In a decaying castle, she welcomes people who have experienced disappointment and still hope that happiness can be found somewhere on a map. Slovak director Peter Kerekes follows their journeys with humour and tenderness, without trying to decide what is true and what is merely a matter of belief.

The documentary comedy Wishing on a Star premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. This time, we will screen it outdoors in the park in front of the Vyšehrad Purkrabství.

The screening begins at 8 PM. You can enjoy the film as an evening picnic, so remember to bring your own blanket. Café Citadela will remain open, offering refreshments and something warm to drink.
