KineDok is going to the Banát festival!

It's become our tradition to go to a small, remote Czech village in the Romanian mountains called Eibenthal, where the Banát Festival is held every year to support local compatriots. This time we are bringing two new films from the wild Balkans and Caucasus - Between Revolutions (21. 8. 8 PM) and Smiling Georgia (23. 8. 6:30 PM).

21. 8. 8 PM BETWEEN REVOLUTIONS

A correspondence chronicle of the friendship between two women, separated by thousands of kilometers between Iran and Romania, and simultaneously a remarkably edited film essay, reflecting on unfulfilled dreams of a better future in the second half of the 20th century.

23. 8. 6:30 PM SMILING GEORGIA

The ruling party of Georgia in 2012, specifically then-President Mikheil Saakashvili, made an absurd promise to the predominantly poorest segments of the Georgian population. In exchange for votes in his favor, he promised to pull out decayed teeth and replace them with a brand-new set of teeth. How could such an exchange between the political spectrum and the general population have turned out?

BANÁT FESTIVAL

One of the most original cultural events in Europe is regularly held in a small, remote village in the Romanian mountains called Eibenthal. This Czech village is one of seven Czech towns in the "Czech" Banat region, which stretches across the border between Romania and Serbia. The festival is organised to support local compatriots and to raise the profile of this unique Czech region in the world, which still retains a unique character and atmosphere in difficult conditions.
